Miguel Elliott "Sir Cobalot"

Miguel Elliott, aka "Sir Cobalot", is a renowned figure in the natural building movement. With over 25 years of experience, Miguel has been at the forefront of promoting sustainable building techniques using earth materials . He founded Living Earth Structures, a company which was based in Northern California, where he lead workshops, taught at schools, and built beautiful backyard earthen structures . Miguel did extensive building at the Isis Oasis, a retreat center in Northern California were he lived for several years. He also featured much of his work at the Solar Living Center which was a sustainable demonstration center. Since then, he has traveled to countries like Argentina, Guatemala, Africa, Italy and Thailand, sharing his knowledge and skills . In 2012, he was knighted with the title "Sir Cobalot" during a Winter Solstice Ceremony, solidifying his commitment to bringing natural building techniques to the world . Known for his Palletable Cobins, Miguel creates small, cozy structures using pallets, straw insulation, and cob plaster . These structures are not only affordable and quick to build but also beautiful and functional . Miguel's work has inspired many to embrace natural building methods, promoting sustainability and environmental consciousness . He was the lead builder of the Cob on Wood project in Oakland where he directed the construction of numerous earthen structures built under the freeway at a homeless encampment. He also built a school in Florida which has already survived 2 major hurricanes. When he's not cobbing, Miguel enjoys practicing yoga, swimming, playing guitar, and cooking pizzas in his cob ovens. His passion for natural building and dedication to teaching others make him a beloved mentor and an influential figure in the sustainable living community. He is happy to be offering his skills on Maui now, where he has found that the clay, climate and culture are all perfect conditions for cob building.
